Connecting with players, celebrating a champion, and bringing Gobi Grip courtside in St. Louis

Gobi Grip was excited to participate in the Level 4 Open: USTA MV 18+ & Open Section Tournament , held August 14–16, 2026, at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.

On Saturday, August 15, we joined players and spectators courtside to introduce Gobi Grip, demonstrate our polymer grip enhancer, and connect with the local tennis community.

Bringing Gobi Grip Courtside

Tournament players and visitors stopped by our booth throughout the day to learn about Gobi Grip and how it can help athletes maintain a confident grip when sweaty hands become a challenge.

Visitors could demo Gobi Grip, enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks, and take advantage of our tournament special, which included Gobi Grip and three bonus items (Gobi Grip mesh bag, Gobi Gecko magnet, carabiner with bottle holder).

Celebrating a Women's Singles Champion

One of the highlights of the day was meeting @chiquiboom_vegas , who captured first place in the Women's Singles competition .

After finishing her matches, she stopped by our booth and shared that sweaty hands are something she deals with on the court. She was excited to take Gobi Grip home to Las Vegas and put it to the test during future play. She also loved our little gecko magnet!

Congratulations on a fantastic tournament and a well-deserved win! We look forward to hearing about her experience with Gobi Grip on the court.

Gobi Grip at the 2026 USTA Level 2 St. Louis Indoor Wheelchair Tennis Championships

Meeting wheelchair tennis players, sharing Gobi Grip, and learning from an incredible tennis community at Chesterfield Athletic Club

Gobi Grip had a wonderful opportunity to meet wheelchair tennis players at the 2026 USTA Level 2 St. Louis Indoor Wheelchair Tennis Championships , held July 24–26 at Chesterfield Athletic Club. We joined the tournament on Saturday, July 25 , to meet players, share Gobi Grip, and learn more about the wheelchair tennis community.

We set up a table with Gobi Grip samples, swag, snacks, and drinks and invited players to stop by, learn about Gobi Grip, and try it for themselves. The response was very encouraging, and we especially enjoyed talking with players and hearing their feedback.

A Connection Through Flo

We would not have been at this tournament without our friend Flo, one of Gobi Grip’s biggest ambassadors.

Flo first tried Gobi Grip while competing in hot and humid conditions and went on to win her tournament. After experiencing the difference it made for her grip, she became an enthusiastic supporter and has shared Gobi Grip with friends and fellow athletes ever since.

Flo introduced us to Kevin and PUSH Wheelchair Tennis Academy, which ultimately led to this opportunity to introduce Gobi Grip to the wheelchair tennis community.

Scientists, Not Salespeople

When Flo introduced us to the players, she shared her own experience with Gobi Grip and explained something that captures who we are: we are scientists, not salespeople.

Gobi Grip inventor and co-founder Dr. Mark Miller followed with his typically humble introduction. Rather than talking up the product he invented, he told the players that we were there to watch some good tennis, enjoy the day, and share the bananas, snacks, and drinks we had brought. If anyone was curious about Gobi Grip, he invited them to stop by, chat with us, and try it for themselves.

Listening, Learning and Sharing Gobi Grip

Throughout the tournament, players stopped by our table to learn about Gobi Grip and try it firsthand.

For us, this was about more than product demonstrations. Wheelchair tennis places unique demands on an athlete’s hands and grip, and we appreciated the opportunity to listen to players, learn about their experiences, and see whether Gobi Grip could be useful to them.

As scientists and product developers, feedback from athletes is invaluable to us.

Temps were in the Mid to upper 90s, with high humidity and bright sunshine.

Challenging conditions, for sure, but Tennis players are a hardy bunch, and despite some cramping issues, many great matches were played. “Big G” (aka “The Geck”) made his debut and the heat didn’t seem to bother him at all (he is originally from the Gobi Desert). He helped us get the word out that Gobi Grip keeps you connected to your racket even under extreme conditions and was happy to pose for pictures with the Champion women’s doubles team. Also, some freakishly strong kid we are calling “Mr. 88” pulled a new record on our grip tester-> 88lbs (shattering the previous best of

78lbs)!.

The RacquetX 2025 in Miami

RacquetX was eye opening!

We got to meet several of our favorite on-line content creators, which felt surreal. We attended their panel discussion where they talked about topics ranging from their creative process to their experiences with different endorsement and marketing deals. A key take away is that authenticity is essential to their fan bases (and livelihoods). So, when approaching an on-line influencer about a product, make sure the product is a good fit for the influencer’s brand and personality, and be prepared to pay them for the promotion. No one is going to “ShamWow” your product because you sent them free samples… content creation is a real job and they are way too busy to do your job for free. Nevertheless, that didn’t stop us from giving out Gobi Grip samples to see what people thought of the product and raise awareness of it’s unique mode of action.

RacquetX also held a Startup Competition, which was a great way to see what products are on the horizon. Startups ranged from club and tournament software to virtual 3D training technology. In the end, SportsAI took home the top prize for their innovative tech that uses AI to analyze shot biomechanics from video. Supnil, the CEO of SwingVision (we love their app!), opened the event by sharing his founding story and talked about the process of developing a commercial product. We got to meet him in person, and he was kind enough to give us some great business advice. We also discussed a potential collaboration to analyze the effect of Gobi Grip on tennis shot performance and will keep you posted when we have the data.

Paddle or Padel, that racket sport looks like a lot of fun! Padel is a virus and there is no cure

We discovered Padel, which is a fascinating combination of tennis, racket ball and maybe a little pickle ball too. We got to meet a former Padel pro (Sane) who showed us some of the new high-end racket tech. We talked about why he loves the sport and whether Gobi Grip might be useful for enhancing grip. He suggested the answer was “yes” since players are required to wear a wrist strap to prevent killing each other on court. He told us Padel is the fastest growing sport in the world (that’s his quote in the heading). I’m looking forward to trying Padel, and as luck would have it there is a fantastic facility just minutes from my house called “Pickle and Padel”. I signed up for a visitor pass and I hope to get some lessons soon and see if Gobi Grip is a good fit for the sport.

Putting Gobi Grip to the test with tennis players through hands-on grip demonstrations

Gobi Grip joined the USTA Missouri Valley tennis community for a hands-on grip demonstration, giving players an opportunity to experience Gobi Grip for themselves.

Players tested their grip and learned how Gobi Grip helps enhance grip without the mess of traditional chalk. The videos and photos below capture some of the demonstrations and interactions from the event.
